In 1997, H. Lundbeck A/S made a serious commitment to help improve the quality of treatment for patients suffering from illnesses of the central nervous system (CNS) by founding the Lundbeck Institute.
The Institute's mission is to provide objective educational programmes, symposia and supportive tools developed in cooperation with the faculty, other opinion leaders and healthcare providers in order to improve the quality of life of patients suffering from CNS diseases.
In order to accomplish this, the Lundbeck Institute provides an international forum in which:
- New scientific issues and practical clinical experience are discussed and ideas exchanged.
- Consensus in relation to improved care will be secured through the organization of informal, interactive seminars in which participants include distinguished international experts.
- Customized materials are distributed for local implementation.
At the outset, the focus of the Institute is on schizophrenia and mood disorders. Other psychiatric and neurological illnesses, such as anxiety and Parkinsonism, will be added to its areas of study later.
The Lundbeck International Neuroscience Foundation and Lundbeck Institute initiatives are supported by many of the major international psychiatric organizations, including:
WPA - World Psychiatric Association
AEP - Association of European Psychiatrists
